DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION, GOVT.COLLEGE CHITTUR

Government College Chittur was established in the year of 1947. This College belongs to heritage and special grade .Our College has been forefront in achievements of Sports and Games for last 69 Years with its limited infrastructure and facilities. Outstanding sports persons excelled name of the college and University in National and All India Inter University competitions.

Faculty Room

The college situated in Eastern side of the Palakkad district and which is main higher education source of the backward students. The playground of the college contributes so many sports persons to the State and the Nation from the college.

Ball Badminton Team

Wrestlers from the Chittur who wore the Kerala cap in the 35^th National Games hosted by Kerala. This college ground plays an important role, for uplifting the health standard of the public of Chittur. About 1600 students were studying this college including UG and PG level. A large number of students from Idukky, Attappady, Parambikkulam, Nelliyampathy, Laksha Dweep are also studying in this college.

NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

The deparment of Physical Education started its function in the college since 1950 when the college shifted its functioning from temporary building to permenent. Mr.P.V Poulose was the first HOD of the department and he played a vital role to strenghthen the department during the period of 1955-59. Sports performance graph of the college is always high in state and national level competitions.

College Teams of Athletics, Handball, Ball Badminton, Water Polo, Swimming, Boxing, Kho-Kho, Wrestling, Judo, Sepaktakraw, Taekwondo, Wushu, Baseball, Cricket ..etc won various medals in Calicut University Championships and Kerala State meet as well. Our Wrestling Team are overall champions of Calicut University for last Six years.

Swimming Pool & Natural Turf Football field

New project of Swimming Pool (25 X 12 M) has inaugurated in the campus recently. Project was planned and designed by KITCO and funding for the project was from the KIIFB. The first phase of the project was 5.54 Crores and second phase of this project will start soon. In second phase, integrated sports Complex and 400m track will be constructed in the campus (Total 10 Crores).
